Overview

Eastech Smart Connect ("the App") is a professional wastewater monitoring application designed for connecting to and managing Eastech Flow Technologies monitoring devices (iTracker, SewerWatch, FlowPort). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Device Data

The App collects sensor data from connected Eastech monitoring devices, including:

• Water level measurements - Depth readings from level sensors
• Flow velocity and volume - Flow rate calculations and measurements
• Temperature readings - Environmental temperature data
• Device battery status - Battery level and health information
• Device serial numbers and MAC addresses - Used to identify and connect to your monitoring equipment
• Timestamp information - Date and time for all measurements

1.2 Location Information

Bluetooth Scanning: Location permission is required by iOS to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices. This is a system requirement mandated by Apple, and we do not collect, store, or transmit your personal location data.

Site Location (Optional): You may optionally enter site location information (site name, address) to identify where monitoring devices are installed. This information is stored locally on your device and only uploaded if you choose to sync data to the cloud.

1.3 Device Identifiers

• MAC Addresses: Bluetooth MAC addresses of monitoring devices
• Serial Numbers: Device serial numbers for equipment identification
• Device IDs: Internal identifiers for connected equipment

These identifiers are used solely to connect to and identify your monitoring equipment. They are not linked to your personal identity.

1.4 Local Storage

The App stores data locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms:

• Device connection history
• Downloaded sensor readings
• Upload history and backup records
• User preferences and settings

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Primary Purpose

All data collection serves the core functionality of the App:

• Device Connection: Connecting to Bluetooth monitoring devices
• Data Download: Downloading and displaying sensor data from devices
• Visualization: Creating data visualizations, charts, and reports
• Local Backup: Backing up data locally on your device in CSV format
• Cloud Upload (Optional): Uploading data to Eastech's cloud service for analysis when you choose to do so

2.2 Data Upload (Optional)

• Data is sent to prod.apieastech.com only when you explicitly tap the "Upload to Cloud" button
• Uploaded data includes device readings, site information, and device identifiers
• Data is transmitted securely using HTTPS encryption
• You can use the app entirely offline without ever uploading data

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

3.1 No Third-Party Sharing

3.2 Eastech Cloud Service

When you choose to upload data, it is sent to Eastech Flow Technologies' secure cloud infrastructure:

• Access is limited to authorized personnel managing the monitoring sites
• Data is stored securely with industry-standard encryption
• You control what data is uploaded and when

4. Data Retention

4.1 Local Data

• Data stored on your device remains until you delete the app or clear app data
• You can manually delete stored data through the app settings
• CSV backup files are saved to your device's document directory

4.2 Cloud Data

• Uploaded data is retained according to your organization's data retention policies
• Contact Eastech Flow Technologies for information about cloud data retention and deletion

5. Data Security

5.1 Security Measures

• Encryption in Transit: All cloud communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• API Authentication: Secure API key authentication for cloud uploads
• Local Security: Data protected by iOS device security features (encryption, biometric locks)
• No Password Storage: No passwords or personal credentials are stored in the app

5.2 Bluetooth Security

• Bluetooth connections use standard BLE security protocols
• Connections are limited to authorized Eastech devices
• No sensitive personal data is transmitted over Bluetooth

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Control Over Data

You have complete control over your data:

• Device Selection: You choose which devices to connect to
• Data Download: You decide when to download data from devices
• Cloud Upload: You choose when to upload data to the cloud
• Data Deletion: You can delete local data at any time
• Export Data: You can export data as CSV files to your device

6.2 Bluetooth and Location Permissions

You can manage app permissions in iOS Settings:

• Bluetooth: Required for connecting to monitoring devices
• Location (When In Use): Required by iOS for Bluetooth device scanning

Note: Revoking these permissions will prevent the app from functioning properly, as Bluetooth connectivity is the core feature.

7. Children's Privacy

This app is designed for professional use by wastewater management personnel and is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. We will notify you of material changes by:

• Updating the policy in the app
• Posting the updated policy at this URL
• Providing in-app notifications for significant changes

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. iOS Privacy Manifest

This app includes an iOS Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) that declares:
